Bonaventure Uwizeyimana becomes 2016 Rwanda National Champion!

Rwandan National Championships see a group of new faces become champions!

Team Rwanda graduate and Team Dimension Data rider, Bonaventure Uwizeyimana dominated Sunday's Road National Championships.

Bonaventure becomes the 2016 Rwandan National Champion after clocking 2h 52' 17" with a total race distance of 111.3km on the course from Muhanga to Huye.

The road race also included six laps of a circuit around Huye city center. The 23-year Uwinzeyimana also took home the Rfw100.000 winner's prize. In second place was his Dimension Data teammate Adrien Niyonshuti, with Team Rwanda riders Joseph Biziyaremye (2h 53’ 17’’) and Gasore Hategeka (2h 53’ 17’’) finishing third and fourth respectively. Veteran and founder Team Rwanda rider Abraham Ruhumuriza completed the top five in a time of 2h 53’ 18’’.

Rene Ukiniwabo won the road race in the Junior category after he covered a total of 89.3km in 2h 12’ 46’’ and collected Rfw50,000. Team Rwanda's first female pro cyclist Jean D’Arc Girubuntu won the race in women’s race, a distance of 78.3km and won Rfw50,000. In the U23 category Valens Ndayisenga dominated the race and won Rfw60.000.
