The Africa Kit Appeal, organized by Team Dimension Data pro rider Matt Brammeier, has collected over 1,000 items of kit for young male and female riders in Rwanda and across Africa
The Afria Kit Appeal was established in early 2016 by Team Dimension Data pro rider Matt Brammeier following his friendship with Rwandan pro rider Adrien Niyonshuti. The aim of the appeal is to collect new or unused cycling kit from the global cycling community and channel it through Team Africa Rising to young male and female riders in Rwanda and beyond.
Following some huge donations at drop-off locations in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Germany, a delivery of over 1,000 items of kit arrived in Rwanda in early June and will be distributed across 2016 to those in real need. This allows young cyclists to focus on their training and riding rather than trying to afford expensive cycling accessories.
The picture above was taken after a major donation of kit at the Giant Store in Camden, London by female riders who take part in their Liv Cycling Club rides. Collections there are organised by Store Manager Nick Freilich who has been a great supporter of the Appeal.
